Gabe,
I work for Caldera and if you've read anything about Caldera, you'll
know that it was formed as a Linux distribution company by Bryan Sparks
and Ransom Love - both of whom were preaching Linux to Novell and left
because they knew Linux and open source would change the future of
computing. To see a list of some of Caldera's contributions to the open
source community, go to
http://www.caldera.com/partners/odn/contrib.html. If it weren't for
Caldera, you wouldn't be using Netscape on Linux or using RPMs for
package management. OpenLinux is a step above anything else you'll find
out there: http://www.calderasystems.com/company/awards.html.
You made a valid point about the ppt, doc, and qt files - in fact, when
I found out, I sent an e-mail with a link to your comments to the
product manager and he said "I will use this going forward when we do
things."

Thanks for your interest in Caldera.
Later,
Ryan Smith

btw - I'm from Minnesota and actually went to the U of M for a term in
HS - go Gophers!
