It looks like the PCMCIA reader uses the ide_cs driver from the pcmcia-cs package. ( (http://pcmcia-cs.sourceforge.net). http://pcmcia-cs.sourceforge.net/ftp/SUPPORTED.CARDS even says Sandisk helped with the driver.
