The POWER4 chip is a 64-bit descendant of IBM's earlier RS/6000, POWER,
and PowerPC chips.  I guess I can't remember if the POWER3 was 64-bit or
not..

I'm pretty sure the pSeries is a descendant of the RS/6000 workstation.
The same chip (or at least a very close relative to it) can be found in
the AS/400.

I'm not sure how mature Linux's 64-bit PPC support is, though IBM is
actively supporting development on it.  At least a few people in Rochester
are working on it..
