I've been tearing my hair out over USB as of late. The kernel builds fine (vanilla 2.4.16), but USB has been flakey, to say the least. Upon rebooting, I get errors like "usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout". I just got the 2.4.16->2.4.17 patch and will see if the new kernel improves matters. How are your builds failing?
