My wife is doing a Master's in Non-profit management, and she would be willing to look into whether we could become a non-profit, and then do what needs to be done.  She pointed out that you can't become a charity just because you want to :)  We would need a charitable purpose, so linux advocacy and community support *might* be an option.

We're going on vacation for a week this pm, but I hope to be checking email.  Let me know here or directly if this would be helpful (particularly if you're the treasurer/president or other first among equals)
