Striping by itself is probably a bad idea since, if one drive fails, you'll be up the proverbial creek (/w no paddle). You might wish to look at one of the other RAID solutions such as RAID 1 or RAID 5 which will offer some fault tolerance. > I am helping a friend build a system that will be used for video > editing.
