I just read on DistroWatch that there's a new Linux distro called Pear OS (http://www.pear-os-linux.fr/). The logo is a pear with a bite taken out of it. (Sound familiar?) What I find amusing is the fact that Nickelodeon sitcoms feature Pear products that look just like Apple products. If you've ever watched TV shows like _Zoey 101_, _iCarly_, _Drake and Josh_, or _Victorious_, you'll see computers, MP3 players, and other products with pear symbols on them. This isn't the only example of Nickelodeon shows parodying products. Other examples include SkyMall -> SkyStore, Dairy Queen -> Freezy Queen, Cheesecake Factory -> Cheesecake Warehouse, and Gorilla Glue -> Grizzly Glue. Thus, the Pear OS is an example of life imitating art. I can't help but wonder if this is a coincidence or if the person who started Pear OS is a fan of Nickelodeon sitcoms. -- Jason Hsu <jhsu802701 at jasonhsu.com>
