Chuck, It’s a secondary means to get people to know about it. There is no requirement for you or anyone to register for it - in fact I can see everything going on in my area RIGHT NOW without entering a single piece of personal information. It tells me where, when, who hosts… and I don’t have to sign up. Take a look at the MSP WP group post: http://www.meetup.com/Minneapolis-St-Paul-WordPress-User-Group/ <http://www.meetup.com/Minneapolis-St-Paul-WordPress-User-Group/> > On Mar 14, 2015, at 6:16 AM, Ryan Coleman <ryan.coleman at cwis.biz> wrote: > > Bull. I have the intention of continuing to communicate the meetings using the penguinsunbound.com <http://penguinsunbound.com/> website. But as the coordinator of the group the benefits were enough to cover the organizer dues myself rather than trying to maintain self managed software. Anyone concerned can continue to reference the website for meeting times. I also felt we as a group could grow from the other IT professionals in the twin cities already on meetup that may not be aware of the group if they never had heard of us before. >>>>> >>>>> On Mar 13, 2015 2:45 PM, "Chuck Cole" <cncole at earthlink.net <mailto:cncole at earthlink.net>> wrote: >>>>> Meetup is a commercial firm that requires groups to pay group dues and submit their member lists for their advertising purposes. This should enable us to better communicate group activities, meeting times, place availability, etc. I hope all interested will join meetup and RSVP for the March 21st 10AM meeting so I can get accurate attendance numbers. This will also help on topic interest and meeting place requirements.
