> FFMPEG installation is always a bit of a chore. >From http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2219550 this worked fine: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jon-severinsson/ffmpeg sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install ffmpeg sudo apt-get install frei0r-plugins I'm running 14.04.2 LTS so too late for me, but according to http://www.webupd8.org/2014/11/ffmpeg-returns-to-official-ubuntu.html FFMPEG has returned with Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet - they had substituted another fork (avconv) after June 2011. http://askubuntu.com/questions/432542/is-ffmpeg-missing-from-the-official-repositories-in-14-04 > I will report performance improvement once I get everything working. On a good day, my old Pentium3 (single core) @ 730Mhz (1461.97 bogomips) with 500mb RAM would compute 40MB of mp4 data in 12 to 13 hrs. Now my new i5 @3.5Mhz (4 cores at 6997.97 bogomips) with 32gb RAM cranks out 200 to 300 MB of mp4's in an hour or two. That's about 6x more data in an eighth of the time. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
